What dappled is
dappled is a garden sun planner that helps you map sunlight and shade in your garden. It is operated by the developer of dappled (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Data we collect
Account information: When you create an account, we store your email address and authentication provider (Google, Apple, or email/password). Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never stored in plain text.
Garden data: Your garden projects — including location coordinates, boundaries, obstructions, and compass headings — are stored in our database (Supabase) when you are signed in, and locally in your browser (IndexedDB) when you are not.
Preferences: Display preferences like unit system (metric/imperial) and theme (light/dark) are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). These never leave your device.
Payment information: If you subscribe to dappled+, payment is processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number or payment details. We receive only a subscription status confirmation.
How we use your data

- To save and sync your garden projects across devices
- To manage your dappled+ subscription status
- To send transactional emails (password reset, account verification)
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or targeted advertising.

Cookies
dappled uses cookies only for authentication (session management via Supabase). We do not use analytics cookies or tracking pixels. If Google AdSense is active on the free tier, Google may set its own cookies for ad personalization — you can manage these via Google Ad Settings.
Data retention and deletion
Your garden data is stored as long as your account exists. You can delete individual projects at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below. Local data (IndexedDB, localStorage) can be cleared through your browser settings at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can export your garden data as PNG images. To request a full data export or account deletion, contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of dappled after changes constitutes acceptance.
